The curriculum is designed to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all students. Every individual is encouraged to strive for excellence in as many activities as possible.
Key Stage Three
We operate a two year Key Stage Three, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum. Students acquire skills and knowledge required to support progression on to Key Stage 4.
We offer taster sessions for subjects not usually considered as Key Stage 3 subjects in order that students can make an informed choice about which optional subjects they elect to study at GCSE level. Additionally, careers advice is delivered, thus ensuring options choices best support students’ progression into their chosen post 16 destination.
Students taught include: English, Maths, Science, RE, PE, History, Geography, French, German, Drama, Design and Technology.
Key Stage Four
We operate a three year Key Stage Four. This is longer than in many secondary schools and really does reflect our determination for our students to take their learning as far as they can prior to taking their exams.
Students are taught Maths (our most able sit a second GCSE in Further Maths too), English, English Literature, Science (Core and Additional OR Separate Science), RE and PE as their core offer. In addition they are offered a number of options subjects.
