Examination Results 2017

Alcester Academy – Press Release

Alcester Academy are delighted to announce their best GCSE results ever!

In the light of more challenging ‘reformed’ GCSEs, Alcester Academy has returned some exceptional GCSE results. 71% of students achieved the new ‘strong pass’ grade 5 in English and Maths. At the ‘standard pass’ grade 4 (which is comparable an old C grade) Maths achieved 91% and English 88%, giving a combined figure of 84%. Success has also shared right across the curriculum, with many subjects achieving their best ever results.

There have been some notable performances including:

Alex Mucha 2 grade 9, 1 grade 8, 9 A* and 1 A
Eleanor Watson 3 grade 9, 6A*, 2A, 1B
Charlotte Woodward 1 grade 9, 2 grade 8, 7 A*, 1 A
Ruby Smith 2 grade 9, 1 grade 8, 7 A*, 1 A, 1 B

Headteacher, Paul Hyde, said, ‘I am thrilled for the students. They’ve been put under considerable pressure with the introduction of the new harder GCSE and have still achieved excellent results. I believe the success we’ve experienced is down to their hard work, but also the hard work of all of our teachers. 84% passing English and Maths combined is the best we have ever achieved. Had the 5A*-C measure including English and Maths still been a headline measure, this would also have been our best ever result at just over 80%.

I put our success down to the outstanding teaching that every student experiences, along with the broad curriculum we offer. As a small school we get to know our students very well. This enables us to ensure that every individual achieves the very best grades possible.’

Alcester Academy Open Evening is on Tuesday 19th September – a chance to meet us and find out more about our successes.
